Die Bollwerk Apotheke ist insofern etwas Besonderes, als der Schwerpunkt auf der Beratung und dem persönlichen Kontakt mit den Kunden liegt. Ich wollte die Apotheke darauf ausrichten: mehr Bereiche schaffen, in denen Kunden individuelle persönliche Beratungsgespräche führen können.

GSD wurde mir von einem anderen Apothekeninhaber empfohlen.
Wie haben Sie den Planungsprozess erlebt?
Die Bollwerk Apotheke befindet sich im Berner Stadtzentrum und steht unter Denkmalschutz. GSD hat diesen Prozess hervorragend gemeistert.
Wie zufrieden sind Sie mit dem Ergebnis?
Sehr zufrieden! Es ist uns gelungen, das traditionelle Erscheinungsbild und die einzigartige Atmosphäre zu bewahren.
Wie wurde die neue Apotheke von den Kunden aufgenommen?
Das Feedback ist sehr gut.
Wie wurde die neue Apotheke und die Renovationsphase von den Mitarbeitern aufgenommen?
Die Renovierung dauerte etwa 4 Monate (3 Etagen) und wir konnten durchgehend geöffnet bleiben. Das stellte die Mitarbeiter natürlich vor Herausforderungen, aber sie sind mit dem Ergebnis zufrieden.
Wie wirkt sich die Neugestaltung und die neue Produktpräsentation auf den Umsatz aus?
Es war fantastisch, den Betrieb während des Umbaus aufrechterhalten zu können. Der Umsatz hat sich noch nicht erholt, aber wir sind noch dabei, die Arbeitsabläufe zu optimieren.
Initial Situation
A new development is taking shape in the historic village centre of Schwarzenburg, on the Linden site by the Dorfbach stream. The building at Dorfplatz 5 is being acquired by the pharmacist Barbara Wyssenbach, with the aim of relocating the existing Schwarzwasser Apotheke AG from Dorfstrasse 22 to modern premises and steering the business towards a future-oriented direction.
The building was completed and the open day took place on Saturday, 20 June 2026.
Task
As early as summer 2023, Global Shop Design, led by Barbara Wyssenbach, was commissioned to plan the interior design. Thanks to their early involvement in the construction project, the pharmacy’s entire technical infrastructure could be optimally integrated into the building’s structure whilst the shell was still under construction.
The aim was to design a modern pharmacy that focuses on services and personalised advice. The new Schwarzwasser Pharmacy is intended to serve as the first port of call for pharmaceutical and health-related enquiries, offering its customers expert advice and contemporary healthcare services.
Solution
Based on the organisation’s operational requirements, a spatial concept was developed that spans three storeys and optimally supports all work processes.
The basement houses the medication robot, which ensures the efficient storage and dispensing of medicines. The first floor accommodates various service areas such as consultation rooms, a laboratory, the staff lounge and a wheelchair-accessible toilet. The ground floor accommodates the spacious shop area with its sales and consultation zones, a laboratory, an additional consultation room and an office.
Schwarzenburg is regarded as the gateway to the Gantrisch Nature Park, a region characterised by exceptional biodiversity and diverse natural landscapes. Wild river valleys, extensive forests and striking mountain landscapes define the character of the surrounding area and provide the design inspiration for the interior concept.
Schwarzwasser Apotheke AG is an independent village pharmacy with modern infrastructure, a comprehensive product range and strong regional roots. This identity is reflected in the interior design. Natural materials such as silver fir and spruce, finished in a lichen-like shade of green, create a direct link to the landscape of the Gantrisch Nature Park. The design concept is complemented by innovative ‘Night Birds’ pendant lights, shaped like birds, which guide customers to the first floor. Furthermore, a lily pattern is incorporated into the perforated sheet metal elements, reinterpreting the historic architecture and the traditional village centre of Schwarzenburg. The result is a modern, warm and distinctive pharmacy that harmoniously combines functionality, regional character and contemporary design.
