Initial situation
The pharmacy “Apotheke zum Meierhof” is situated next to the tram stop at Meierhofplatz in Zürich Höngg. The building contractor requested a modern, individual, sustainable, stylish and urban new pharmacy. On these grounds, Global Shop Design was chosen as the shopfitter.
Task
The pharmacy and the facade were to be completely renewed. The Zürich- based architect Mrs Rutta Sznitmann was employed for the reconstruction and construction supervision. Global Shop Design was commissioned for the shopfitting and materialisation procedures as well as for the lighting and color concept. The task encompassed space optimisation and an inviting product presentation as well as practical and efficient word processes. The ultimate objective was to obtain an urban, unconventional and pleasant spatial experience.

Solution
In collaboration with the building contractor – consisting of Mrs Verena Kistler, Mr Rolf Graf, Mrs Antonia Graf, Mr Stienen and the Categori Management team of the Rotpunkt group-, a concept was developed in order to meet all requirements. An automatic medication system was designed to fit behind the counter area. A pleasant consultation room was furnished to ensure a competent and personal consulting service. The brand new window facade was optimised in order to facilitate different shop window displays in a highly flexible manner.
A wallpaper designed by the British artist Damien Hirst named “Pharmacy Wallpaper” covers the wall opposite the new facade, thus enhancing the atmosphere of the entire area. We also brought the materials and lighting up to the most modern standart and put the product presentation at the centre of attention.
